So who forgot it was Monday morning and time for a featured colourway post? This girl. Following our move last weekend and a crazy week, life might be finally returning to some version of normalcy. That will last for about 48 more hours until our very first guests arrive on Wednesday night! I can't decide if I am looking forward to it or dreading it. It will be nice to have it over and realize that this is not such a scary prospect. But in the meantime, we return to our regular scheduled programming and to this week's featured colourway.
I figured it was appropriate after releasing an accessory pairing in this colourway late last week to feature this colourway on the blog this Monday morning. For me as a dyer, this was the most challenging colour to get right before launching my permanent collection. No matter what I was doing I kept getting sticky note or highlighter yellow. It seems that yellow is a bit of a challenging colourway for most dyers, you don't see quite as much of it available. I have to say, I am thrilled that I persevered on this one, because I absolutely ADORE this soft buttery yellow. It has a level of complexity, and even as a blonde it is a flattering shade.
There are definitely some great colour pairing options available with this colourway. One that I am just desperate to work with is honey, fawn, squall, and natural. Just make sure to wash a swatch first and be careful with your placement of squall. Though all our yarns are fully set, there can sometimes be a tiny bit of dye release from colours that dark and I hate the thought of your beautiful colourwork sweater looking muddy after washing!
This soft yellow, in my opinion is very much flattering, so doesn't need to be used solely on feet. Here are a few pattern ideas.
As always, McKellar Honey is available for a special price for this week!
