Have you seen my knitting mojo?

So while according to the calendar summer is not here, if you look outside, mother nature is doing a pretty good approximation of it. That means its about time for my knitting mojo to just hop up and go, and I can tell you, sometime in the last few weeks, it just got up and went.

Last summer I only finished ONE project in July & August. A Mormorio coming in at just under 600 yards. In February & March I finished a sweater, two pairs of socks, and a fingering weight hat for 1963 yards.

I am not too sure why this happens to me. But it happens every single year. June hits and my knitting fingers just aren't feeling it. I can browse through ravelry for hours on end, in theory lusting after patterns, but again, just nothing does it for me. Maybe this comes from the fact that I am in fact a product knitter, so if I am not interested in having the end product, it just doesn't get knit. Maybe this year it is coming from the fact that my knitting life is a bit displaced with having a studio under construction and a pretty pathetic makeshift one in the interim. Everything is a pain, especially caking yarn. Or maybe knitting in the summer just doesn't do it for me.

I sit there, looking at instagram and the photos of Lisa Mutch of Northbound Knitting sitting outside in the nice summery weather with a *beverage* knitting away at a beautiful shawl design. I swoon, I yearn, I desire to be doing that. However, I just can't make myself do it.

I haven't thought much of it in previous years. Honestly, I was working a desk job and I just chocked it up to not wanting to spend another minute sitting down, possibly even inside, when it was so beautiful outside! But this year, knitting and designing is a big part of my business, so if I am not knitting, patterns aren't getting done and samples aren't being made.

So if you happen to see my knitting mojo, please return to sender and send it back my way. In the meantime, the shipping container is coming along, so hopefully once it is up and running, I won't be able to help myself but having knitting projects fly off the needles.

So do you have a time of year that you knit more or less? Anything exciting that you just have to get off your needles right now?
